During my years as a moderator at Hostloc, I have been constantly thinking:

  • What does the future of hosting communities look like?
  • What kind of platform do we need to sustain a healthy order and long-term development for the community?

1. About Doing This

Dilemma: The activity level and quality of traditional communities largely depend on the dedication of the management team. When administrators have to make choices between career and life, the direction of the community faces huge challenges!
Although many enthusiastic users are working hard to keep the community lively, the rules from more than 10 years ago are no longer sufficient to meet the complex and diverse needs of today's community.
I have contacted other moderators, C's family, and core members, hoping to change the status quo. But in reality, we still have to respect C's choices.
So I started to have an idea: to create a community that is malleable, trustworthy, and capable of sustainable development!

Legacy: If one day Hostloc is willing to return, the SSO interface reserved by N.HT will provide a spark for the MJJs;
If one day C still chooses to focus on his career, N.HT will continue to exist as an important part of the hosting community.
Because the persistence and passion of every MJJ are the most precious assets in the hosting circle, and they deserve to be treated gently.

2. What is the Core of a Hosting Community?

It is people, technology, information, and connections.

Breakthrough: The development of AI has shown us a new possibility: a hosting community powered by AI assistance, capable of automated management, intelligent recommendations, and personalized services. Such a community can not only greatly reduce the burden on the management team but also significantly enhance user experience and engagement.
Therefore, I decided to create N.HT—a brand new hosting community with a brand new tech stack and AI capabilities.
3. What is N.HT?
As the hosting community with the world's shortest domain name, the name N.HT carries multiple meanings:

Opportunity: It is Next HOST. It represents the next generation of hosting communities.
It is New HOST. It represents a new beginning.
It is Node HOST. It represents nodes, the basic units of technical exchange.
It is News HOST. It represents information.
It is Network HOST. It represents the network.
It can also be Neural HOST. It represents computing power and AI.

4. AI Integrated Into Every Corner of the Community?

AI: N.HT draws inspiration from X.com’s "type a paragraph and it becomes an article" lightweight experience,
and seamlessly brings Copilot-like "type a sentence and it autocompletes" capabilities into the community.
We have integrated AI capabilities into every corner of N.HT, so that while everyone is exchanging technology and sharing experiences, they can also enjoy modern intelligent services.

But no matter how much technology evolves, the soul of the community is still every MJJ who loves to tinker.

5. In Conclusion

N.HT has just started, and there is still much to refine in the system. Today, I’m sharing this with you in a small circle, hoping to invite the most knowledgeable brothers to come and experience, tinker, and critique.
Welcome to N.HT. Let’s work together to keep a new spark alive for the hosting circle and ignite new hope.

Is this forum written by AI? Or handcrafted by a master? It's too awesome.

To save face, I usually say that most of it was written by AI, or that AI was involved 90%.

In reality, I do the design, and the implementation is mostly by AI. This creates a lot of cognitive debt. The biggest pitfall is that AI can only do technical testing, not business testing. Many details only gradually come to light during the testing process, and every time I debug, I find new problems. The pitfalls just keep increasing.
